CircuitHe did just that. As he walked in the twilight, the ground suddenly disappeared from under his feet, and he fellspeaker into a deep ditch. Immediately there was a great commotion and shouting at the bottom of the pit, which turned out to be a military trench. People in green uniforms jumped out from everywhere, tied Toney up and threw him into an improvised prison cell.
"This is no joke," Toney thought. "What are these people doing here?"
Soon they came for him and took him to the general. The general was a tall, strong man, his uniform decorated with four silver star on the shoulders. In his right hand he held a small stick, which he occasionally swishedspeaker on the palm of his left hand.
He asked Toney where he came from.
Toney said he came from Robotland.
"Then you must be a spy for the robots," the general poked Toney with the small stick.
Toney didn't know what spying was, so he said no.
"I knew it," the general shouted, "then you must be a spy for the enemy."
"What enemy?" Toney asked.
"The ones we're at war with."
"Why are you at war?"
"For this sacred land, my boy, right under our feet."
