They went out into the yard, the robotlet in front and his sister behind him. The storm was roaring
terribly around them, swirling leaves and bits of branches everywhere. The robotlet spotted the red copper vest under the mulberry tree.
"Stay here, I'll go get it!" he shouted to his sister.
But just as he took a few steps, a mighty gust of wind grabbed the old strawberry tree, which gave in with a terrifying creak and fell out. The robotlet could barely jump aside. Worried, he turned back to his sister, but by then, she had vanished without a trace. Only a golden shard the size of a thumb sparkled in her place.
The robotlet became very sad, blaming himself for not being able to protect his sister. He carefully picked up the golden shard, went back to his robot mother, and said:
"Pack up, dear mother, in my little copper haversack, because I'm setting out on a journey, and I won't return until I've found my sister."
Robot mom lamented, but what could she have done? She packed the robotlet's copper haversack and bid him farewell.
