Meanwhile, outside the palace, self-proclaimed inventors, fortune seekers, and robot princes were lining up to take up the challenge. There were jetpacks powered by petrol, alcohol, hydrogen and solar energy. In fact, there was even someone who attempted a coal-fired, steam-powered version.
At the time, there lived in the kingdom a kind robowitch who had a young robot son. This robot boy was secretly in love with the princess and decided that, come what may, he would build the jetpack and take on the three challenges.
Fortunately, building things was this robotlet's hobby, so he managed to assemble an excellent jetpack. With hope in his heart, he packed his things, bid farewell to his mother, and set off for the royal palace to participate in the competition.
